Privacy notice

In short. The survey doesn't ask who you are. The keep-in-touch form asks only for an email address and, if you like, a first name. The two are kept apart. Only one person reads what you send. Nothing is sold or shared, and this website sets no cookies.

Who we are

NeuroLuntu is a product in development in the United Kingdom. It is run by Richard Makepeace, an individual, not a company. I decide how your information is used, which makes me the "controller" under UK data protection law.

Contact: hello@neuroluntu.co.uk.

This notice covers this website, our research survey, our keep-in-touch form, and emails you send us.

The research survey

What it asks. Questions about your experience as a parent or carer, someone who works in a school, or a specialist: the paperwork you have, what happens to reports, and what would help. Two questions let you write in your own words. Every question can be skipped except the first two.

What it doesn't ask. Your name, your child's name, your school's name, a date of birth, or which diagnosis a child has. Please don't include any of these in the boxes where you write freely. If an answer names a person, I delete the whole answer.

Why we can use it. Your answers may tell us something about a child's needs or health, which the law treats as especially sensitive. We use them only because you agree at the start of the survey (your explicit consent). You must be 18 or over to take part.

We don't say "anonymous". We don't ask who you are, but the form service may record technical details when you use it (see "Tally" below), so we don't promise more than that.

We read answers in batches, not as they arrive. If you're worried a child is unsafe, call 999 in an emergency, or the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000.

The keep-in-touch form

After the survey, or straight from our home page, you can choose to leave your details if you'd like a conversation, to review a sample document, to hear about a trial, or to get occasional news.

It asks for your email address, what you'd like from us, which describes you (parent or carer, school staff, specialist, or something else), and optionally a first name and, for school staff, who would decide about a trial. It asks nothing about any child.

Why we can use it. Your consent, given by the tick box on the form. We contact you only about what you ticked. You can ask to be removed at any time.

It is kept apart from the survey. Nothing joins the two forms: no ID or answer passes from one to the other. The only weak link is timing: if very few people take part, a keep-in-touch entry arriving a minute after a survey answer could be matched by eye. We don't try to do that.

Emails you send us

If you email hello@neuroluntu.co.uk, I see your email address and whatever you write, and I use it to reply. Cloudflare forwards those emails to my business mailbox at Microsoft, and I reply from that mailbox, so my reply comes from a different address.

This website

This website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which counts visits with its Web Analytics. That counting uses no cookies and doesn't identify you. To deliver the page and protect it from attack, Cloudflare handles your IP address and browser details; we don't see or keep them. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website.

Who handles your information for us

ServiceWhat it doesWhere
Tally (Tally BV, Belgium)Runs both forms and stores the answers.European Union (Google Cloud, Belgium)
CloudflareHosts this website, counts visits and forwards email sent to hello@.Worldwide, including the United States, under the UK–US data bridge and standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum
Microsoft (Microsoft 365)The mailbox that receives and answers email to hello@.Microsoft's data centres, under Microsoft's data protection terms

Each acts only on our instructions, under a data processing agreement.

Tally. The forms open on Tally's own website. When you open one, Tally's site stores an identifier in your browser (it is called TRACKER_DEVICE_ID). Tally also lists three analytics services (Mixpanel, Plausible and Tinybird), which it says don't process form answers. Tally hasn't published whether it records your IP address or device details when you use a form, or what that browser identifier is for. We have asked, and this notice will be updated when Tally replies. Tally's own information: GDPR and privacy policy. We have turned off email notifications for both forms, so your answers aren't sent through email services outside the EU.

AI tools

NeuroLuntu uses AI, so you may wonder whether your answers do too. What you write in your own words is never put into an AI tool. The tick-box answers may be counted and summarised with help from an AI tool, never with anything that could identify you. Nothing you send is used to train an AI model by us.

Who sees it

Only me. Survey results may be reported in summary, in groups large enough that no one can be picked out. Quotes are never used without separate permission. We never sell or share your information.

How long we keep it

Deletion is done by hand. Tally says deleted data leaves its backups within 90 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop us using it. You can withdraw your consent at any time; that doesn't affect what we did before. Email hello@neuroluntu.co.uk and I'll reply within one month.

To be honest about one limit: because the survey doesn't ask your name, I can't find your survey answers from your email address. If you tell me roughly when you took part and something you wrote, I'll look and delete what matches.

Complaints

Please tell us first, and we'll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If this changes, the new version goes here with a new date. When a company takes over running NeuroLuntu, this notice will say so before anything else changes.
